Two Mischievous Dogs Accidentally Call 911 Sixteen Times, Leaving Officers Stunned

What started as a routine 911 investigation in Lakeville, Minnesota, turned into a hilarious and heartwarming story that’s now making people smile across the country.

After dispatchers received a series of emergency calls from the same address — sixteen in total — police officers were sent to the scene expecting an urgent situation. Instead, they found… two very enthusiastic dogs.

When officers Emiles Bares and Roberts arrived, they were greeted not by a panicked homeowner but by two wagging tails and a pair of happy faces pressing against the window. “It was just kind of weird. Usually, people come to the door,” Officer Bares told Fox 9. “Seeing two dogs go hyper is not something I see all the time.”

At first, they assumed the calls were accidental. But after learning there had been sixteen separate 911 dials, they decided to dig deeper. The officers contacted the homeowner, who was at work, and got permission to enter the house.

Inside, they quickly found the culprits — the dogs — and the weapon of mischief: a cell phone left on “Emergency Call Only.” Officer Roberts explained, “So, in theory, a dog could have dialed 911 by pushing the screen with its paw.”

The dogs, it turned out, had been left alone and likely got bored, accidentally pawing at the touchscreen enough times to trigger the repeated calls.

When Fox 9 tried to “interview” the furry pranksters, they responded in true canine fashion — by sniffing the microphone and wagging their tails.

The homeowner took the incident in stride, promising to keep his phone out of reach in the future. While this funny accident gave everyone a good laugh, it also sparked a fascinating discussion: could dogs really be trained to call 911 intentionally?

Kennel Worker’s Violent Rage Leads to Dog’s Death

A family in Seattle dropped their dog, a black lab named Mitch, off at a local kennel one day, not expecting anything unusual to occur. But Mitch's stay at the kennel ended with an employee brutally kicking and punching him - to the point of death.

Experts say yes. Melody Jackson, a researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology, is already working on training service dogs to use touchscreens to contact emergency services — potentially saving lives for people who are elderly or medically vulnerable.

For now, these Lakeville pups might not be heroes in training, but they sure brought some unexpected joy to their neighborhood — and reminded everyone to keep phones safely out of paw’s reach.
